Default Melandru's Arrows

Im surprised I dont see this skill in PvP more. Its actually a good skill, bleeding and a good chance to score even more damage due to alot of enchantments in pvp. Maybe a build like this.

[skill]Melandru's Arrows[/skill][skill]Conjure Flame[/skill][skill]Mark of Rodgort[/skill][skill]Forked Arrow[/skill][skill]Troll Unguent[/skill][skill]Whirling Defense[/skill][skill]Antidote Signet[/skill][skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]

Forked Arrow does not work with Conjure.

besides, there's better preparations to use, Barbed Arrows is a cheaper bleeding, combined with damage skills, or Glass Arrows if you want actual damage -- plus the enchanting condition isn't that charming either.

Whirling is trash when Oath Shot isn't your elite, Natural is the way to go, but that's just besides the point. ;p

also, lack on interrupts is FTL.

so yeah, i don't see a reason to use it.

i also fixed your typos in various skills.

No offense but this build is crap. I can't even see myself killing Dunkoro with it.

Poison >>> bleeding
Noone runs condition pressure anymore because hexes + aegis + RC + Lod own it.
Running a ranger without dshot and savage is stupid.

If this is run in a build with 2 SF eles, I can actually see it becoming hazardous. But in that case, you should run barrage.

Also, most of these enchantments you're talking about either reduce the damage, almost cancelling out the boost in attack, or make the attack be blocked. Hurray for 24 extra damage that doesn't hit.

Melandru Arrows is really not that bad. It used to be a common elite.

The thing is, they added Barbed Arrows if you really want bleeding (possible in 2 rangers setup, otherwise poison's better), but more importantly they added Ranger Elites that are worth it.

Broad Head Arrow and Burning Arrow are better to have than Melandru. If you need a spike assist, BA-Savage is strong (not as strong as Dual-Savage in Melandru if you hit enchanted target, but better if you don't) and it's also very strong as simple pressure on a target enchanted or not. BHA offers very good utility in split. Cripshot is still usable too. Or you can fit various utility elite from other classes (Expel Hexes, Corrupt Enchantment, etc. are sometimes very good on ranger depending on your team composition and its role).

The only time i could see someone use Melandru Arrows is if they want skill bar compression to fit an extra skill (say Debil Shot), because it fills a role of damage buff + degen at the same time. But it turns your damage unreliable and you lose an elite slot that could likely have offered much better utility.

1) lol @ double post .. GWG lag sucks

2) yes... the Mels ranger used to be a staple of the condition/melee balanced KGYU pressure template that ruled pvp for a long time. This actually continued with factions. Currently, there is a lot of physical dmg hate in the meta and RC is a staple elite, instead of the majority of monks being boonprots or blights as in the days of KGYU pressure. I remember when you'd get laughed at if you brought an RC monk into GvG, it being seen as primarily a HA build. Anyway, melandru's is still a decent elite in a dual ranger build, but before that happens, the meta will need to be balanced to eliminate the large block percentage (before glyph, the aegis was usually carried on utility midline like necros or eles and with 2 rangers, they'd almost never get them off. Also, defensive anthem is pretty gay). The biggest shutdown to straight condi-pressure though is a good enemy ranger dshotting your mesmer's signet of humility and the fact that hexes are stronger pressure now anyway because they're pretty rediculously imbalanced.

I've tried condition rangers a lot recently because i use to love that meta, but hexes, aegis, defensive anthem, RC, LoD, weapon of warding, shields up, B-surge have killed a lot of condition pressure type builds. For the most part they are way to easy to shutdown. You can be successful but you need good timing, good players and an area that has good line of sight. Overall, melandru use to be good in this style of build but i think it needs a buff to regain any potentcy.

I'd think it being a 24 second prep and cannot be blocked by enchanted targets would help it become more viable. Crip shot at 10 energy and moves 2x as fast would help condition rangers lots.
